TYPES OF LEATHER SADDLE BAGS

Saddle bags are a great addition to your saddle. From its original leather material, saddle bags are now made out of synthetic material. There are different kinds of Saddle bags that can fit your needs.

An important part of the equine track, since the first saddle was invented, is a saddle bag. It is a great addition to your saddle. Since there are things that a person likes to carry with him, saddle bags are good for:
? water bottles
? rain coat
? cell phones and others

Saddle bags are originally made from leather. At current, equine saddle bags are made out of synthetic material. Examples of these synthetic materials include:
? Cordura Nylon
? Canvas

Basically leather saddle bags of three types which are discussed below

Horse riding saddle bags

In horse riding saddlebags sit in various positions, on the side, in front or behind the saddle. They attach to the saddle’s girth and to the saddle itself by straps and ties. They can be made from various materials, although leather was the traditional material it is heavier and requires more maintenance than many modern versions. Saddlebags are one of three types: Pommel bags (which sit in front of the saddle), regular saddlebags (which sit behind it), and pannier style bags (that can be fitted over a saddle that is not being ridden in).

Cycling saddle bags

In cycling, a saddlebag or seat bag is a bag attached under the saddle. Smaller ones are typically used to hold a few items such as spare inner tubes, puncture repair kit, tools, waterproofs, food, first-aid kit etc. Seat bags are common on touring bicycles, racing bicycles, and cross country mountain bikes.

Bags range from tiny to large (over 25 liters). Smaller bags, known as seat bags, wedge packs, or seat packs fit completely under the saddle. Larger bags which project behind and sideways are usually called saddlebags; a well-known example is the Carradice Long Flap, for many years a staple of British cycle tourists especially on the weekends. some prefer saddlebags to panniers because they are more aerodynamic; advocates of the pannier, on the other hand, point to the lower centre of gravity, which improves balance.

Recumbent bicycles have much larger seats than the saddle of a conventional bicycle, and special bags are available which attach to the seat; these are also called seat bags but are typically the size of small touring panniers.

Motorcycle Saddlebags

On a motorcycle saddlebags or panniers are mounted behind the seat and on either side of the rear wheel. Amongst many popular bikes and styles, Honda and Harley Davidson have branded and paved there way into the cruiser market. Saddlebags come in different shapes and sizes and are used as luggage or a container to carry around items. It is also a style or status symbol within the biker community, picking leather saddlebags] showing high class.

Two Types of Electric Bicycles

The usage of electric bicycles is increasing day by day, like the price of fuels, since electric bicycles have a lot of advantages over other types of vehicles. The working of electric bicycles is much the same way as an ordinary bicycle except that it is fitted with a small electric motor that is powered by a rechargeable battery.

Basically, electric bicycles can be of two types, pedal activated and throttle activated. As the name itself suggests, pedal activated electric bicycles are activated by pedaling and are helpful in commuting long distances and good for exercising, too. In the throttle activated type, the motor is activated by a handle bar mounted throttle. Electric bicycles are available in various styles, frame sizes, components and speed. The batteries required are also of different types like lead acid, nickel metal hydride and lithium ion battery-the choice of the battery depends upon the terrain to be used and the weight of the rider.

The most important advantage of electric bicycle is that they are almost zero emission vehicles and thus, eco friendly. They also do no emit noise and help to reduce noise pollution. The recharging of battery takes only a few hours and is affordable.

People who want to commute on a small non- polluting vehicle prefer electric bicycles. They   are loved by those who wish to travel outdoors to do a little bit of exercising. Electric bicycles are also preferred to cars in the sense that the user need not search for a place to park the vehicle in the congested traffic, when shopping is done for one or two items. Electric bicycles are also used by children and students who like to go for a joy ride around the town or parks.

Normally, the speed of the electric bicycle is around 25 to 30 kilometers per hour, which is certainly faster than walking or even traveling by a car in a busy road which is fully laden with traffic. Electric bicycles can be purchased online too, from the convenience of the home. The maintenance cost of this bicycle is almost nil. There are electric bicycles that are solar charged, too.

An ordinary bicycle can also be upgraded to an electric bicycle by just fitting a motor kit that is designed for this purpose. The main purpose of fitting a motor for an electric bicycle is to preserve the energy of the cyclist, as also increase the speed of the cycle and thus make riding a convenient experience. Needless to say, electric bicycles are very efficient and useful and there is no reason why it should not be preferred to other forms of two wheelers.

Types of Bicycles

Bicycling is quickly becoming one of America’s favorite sports (not to mention it’s popularity outside of the U.S.). If you are new to the sport, welcome. You are about to embark on a challenging, exciting new adventure. Bicycling is a wonderful way to get in shape, travel, save money and have fun. There are some basics you need to learn before you hop on. One of these basics is the different kinds of bikes out there. This article should help you make an informed decision about what type of bicycling is for you.

What you will use your bike for will have the greatest impact on what type you purchase. For those individuals who are looking to bicycle simply as a way of losing weight, a stationary bike may be the best bet. Stationary bikes come in both regular and recumbent (you will sit lower and put less stress on your bike) and are used indoors entirely for weight loss and exercise benefits. You can find these in a variety of prices and styles. If you aren’t sure that a stationary bike is for you, you may want to attend a spinning class at your local gym to find out if you enjoy this type of activity.
Some people will choose to use their bicycles for transportation. If this is the case, there are two types of bikes to look for. The first and most popular is a commuter bike. These bikes are strong and sturdy and often have racks to hold things. They can be found in one speed and geared models. Another bike called a folding bike, allows the rider to fold the bike for easy carrying and storage.

For people who wish to ride with small children or families, there are children’s bikes and tandem bikes. Children’s bikes are smaller in size and come in many styles. You can add training wheels to these for little ones just starting out. As a family, you may want to try out a tandem bike. This allows several people to ride together and helps you keep track of everyone as well as bond as a team.

For the more experienced rider who is looking for a challenge, there are mountain bikes, BMX bikes and Cyclecross bikes. Mountain bikes are lightweight and durable. They are built to handle rough and uneven terrain. This type of bike will allow you to explore trails that would not have been possible on a regular bike. BMX bikes are compact and extremely strong. They are used for tricks and competition. Cyclecross bikes are also suitable for uneven roads but are generally used for racing.

Be sure to figure out what type of cycling you would like to do before shopping for a bicycle (and set a budget). Doing your research beforehand will give you the best chance at a wonderful cycling experience. Speaking with professionals and fellow bikers is another way to ensure that you will purchase the correct bike for your needs, and have the best experience possible.

Types of Mountain Bikes for Riding on Dirt Paths

Mountain Bike, abbreviated as MTBs or ATBs (All Terrain Bikes) is a bike that are meant for riding on dirt paths or unpaved environments. They are more rugged than road bicycles, and can handle more strain.

The tires of the mountain bike are wider and knobbier than road bikes, for more grip and shock absorption. Front suspension for the MTBs is becoming the norm, and in today’s mountain bikes, you can find front and rear suspension. The wheels are usually 26″ in diameter, but this is slowly changing to 29″ in the newer mountain bikes.

Mountain Bikes can be widely classified into four types.

* Fully Rigid

* Hard Tail

* Soft Tail

* Dual/ Full Suspension

Fully Rigid Mountain Bikes don’t have any suspension, and their frames have fixed rears and a rigid fork.

Hard Tail Mountain Bikes have a suspension fork in the front, and no suspension in the rear. A soft tail Mountain bike has very less suspension in the rear, and its frame has a flex in the rear, rather than the pivot. A Full Suspension MTB has a suspension fork in the front, and a rear suspension as well, with a link that lets the rear wheel move on a pivot.

Until recently, MTBs had the same design and geometry of Road Bikes. When mountain biking became more popular, riding became more aggressive, and new mountain bikes with lighter and stronger frames were created to cater to the rider’s needs and aggressive riding style.

The New-age mountain bikes have 21, 24 or 27 speeds. They usually have 3 gears in the front. The rear has 7, 8 or 9 gears. They also feature disc brakes. This gives the rider better stopping power than normal rim brakes. They can also take heavy breaking without wearing out soon, and causing lesser problems.

There are a wide range of tire types for mountain bikes. Some styles include slick street tires, sticky rubber tires, etc. Tubeless tires are also gaining popularity in the MTB world for their pinch flat resistance. Some good MTB tire manufacturers are Wilderness Trail Bikes, Schwalbe, Kenda, Maxxis, Nokian, etc.

Mountain biking has become more of an adventure sport by itself, and lot of equipment can be found just for mountain bikers, most of it safety related. Protective gear that is worn by the rider is often referred to as ‘Armor’, and is work to protect against injuries. ‘Armors’ may range from just knee and elbow caps, to full body padding. Usually, Downhill and freestyle bikers wear more armor, as their riding styles are more dangerous and prone to injuries. Most of these bodysuits also have special protection for the spine, comprising of a set of plastic plates, covered with foam.

Most bike parks require bikers to wear full face helmets, to protect against injury. These helmets a just like their counterparts used in motocross, but are considerably more ventilated and lighter. Most professional riders wear these by choice, to avoid head injuries.

Some of the Mountain Bike manufacturers are Airborne cycles, Alpine design MTBs, Arrow Racing, Dagger, Dart, Full Dynamix, etc.
