“3 Motocross Training Tips You Can Use To Win More Races!”

3 Quick Motocross Training Tips That Will Make a Huge Difference!

Have you ever wondered what the guys are doing that are winning races while your fading at the end of your moto?

I used to ask myself the same question and I did find allot of answer’s. Some I wish I hadn’t because it truly does come down to hard work! When you look at motocross training and see that you really do get out what you put in it becomes exciting. I knew that if I put in the hard work and could ride hard for my 15 minute moto ( I knew this because I could go that pace for at least 30 minutes during training) that no one would be stronger at the end of the moto then myself. You can train this way for all rider skill levels by adjusting the time and type of exercises your doing.

Let’s get started! 3 things to get you started are:

1.) Get yourself a heart rate monitor. Without one you have no idea how hard your body is working. This becomes even more important when you get into trying to stay in different heart rate zones such as fat burn or cardio zones. This will also help you determine your lactic acid level, but since this is more of introduction article I won’t get to deep here.

The heart rate monitor I like is made by Polar and it can also mount on a road or mountain bike which I will be talking about next. You can find the heart rate monitor I am talking about here

2.) If you don’t have one purchase a road or mountain bike! There isn’t much you can do at a gym to mimic the workout you get on a moto or mountain bike. You can pick either style bike that suits you better. A road bike is good for being able to keep your heart rate at a specific target then a mountain in single track trail, but in my opinion the road bike is kinda boring. Using a mountain bike in some single track is I have more fun then riding my moto bike sometimes! The downfalls are that its hard to keep in a zone since your going up and down hills and curving through trees. It is also a little more risky to fall and get hurt versus a road bike.

Either way both are great exercise and a wonderful tools to get you to the finish line first.

3.) The last thing you should pick up to start motocross training are health supplements. During rides I like to use CytoSport products which you can find here. When you spend such a big chunk of time riding and training at a high heart it can be taxing on your body. The one problem I was trying to get rid of was the creation of free radicals in my body. These little buggers will start breaking down your cells and its not a good thing. The answer is anti-oxidants. A new product that just came out is eXfuze.

eXfuze is now the worlds first multi-botanical health supplement on planet earth that I know of. Why I am such a proponent is because instead of trying to eat tons of fruits and vegetable to get enough ORAC to find these free radicals off I can just drink 3/4-1 ounce of eXfuze a day and not have to worry about it again! Most importantly it tastes good! Don’t get me wrong though you it is still a good idea to eat fruits and vegetables as well.

It fit my need and it does a great job that gives me piece of mind. So I am happier now and don’t worry as much. Give it a try on my official eXfuze website: http://www.vivaexfuze.com/

The Best Bicycle Races Worldwide

Are you aware that cycling is one of the only 5 sports that was featured in all the modern Olympics?  Well it is.  Do you know that the record for most wins in the Tour de France was made by an American Lance Armstrong, having won 7 times?  Are you aware that the world’s oldest professional cyclist Dutchman Fred Rompelberg is also the holder of the Absolute Speed World Record Cycling?  These are just few facts relating to bicycle and professional cycling.  Though you may consider these fun facts to be trivial, you may find the most prestigious bicycle races in the world to be an important fact especially if you are someone who intends to join it or an avid follower of these races.

Bicycle racing is something that exists since middle of the 19th century.  It is only at the start of the 20th century though that it took the form that it has at present.  Some of the first bicycle races ever established still exist and are in fact considered to be the most prestigious worldwide.  Of the many bicycle races held yearly, few of the most famous are the Grand Tours, the Olympic races and the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).  Fast gaining popularity are the cyclo-cross racing and the mountain bike racing.

The Grand Tours are made up of three world renowned races, the Tour de France, the Giro d’Italia (or simply Giro) and the Vuelta a Espana.  Even non-cyclists have heard of the Tour de France, the most famous of the three.  This race, founded in 1903, takes three weeks to finish, is made up of 20 stages and covers about 2,000 miles.  The cyclist with the shortest time in each stage wins the race.

The cycling races held in the Olympics started as early as 1896.  Some of the cycling events have already been forgotten but new ones are now held.  Today’s Olympic games have bike competitors vie for road cycling, mountain bike races, track cycling, off-road competitions and BMX.  These races are fought according to gender and some are done in teams.

The UCI races are composed of several prestigious races that is popularly referred to as the UCI ProTour.  It replaced the UCI World Tour in 2005 and now includes the Grand Tours and other sought after cycling races such as the Criterium de Dauphine Libere, Paris Nice and Tour de Suisse and other one day races like the Clasica de San Sebastian, Milan-Sanremo, Ronde van Vlaanderen and other famous races.  Cycling is generally a summer sport and most of these races are held either in spring or in fall.

Off-Road Bike Racing and Preparation

Winning Endurance Mountain Bike Races

The proper preparation for winning endurance mountain bike races is a multifaceted endeavor. Did ya catch that? I mean, Do you want to win a 12 or 24 hour mountain bike race this season? Well listen up. There are a lot of things to consider, so the best approach is to break it down into parts to make sure you have your bases covered, or at least your saddle.

I will discuss the five key elements that a racer should focus on to win endurance mountain bike races. These include the physical demands of the bike trail. What type of mountain bike to race. What kind of gear is needed. The mental state of mind a ride should have. And finally, what the racer should eat before, during and after the race.

Physical training is the one thing that most people would concentrate on before entering an endurance race, but what are the finer points of physical training? This isn’t a fun ride in the BMX park with your buddies. You will be asking your body to perform for an extended period of time. To prepare for this, good riders, will spend ample time on their road bikes. They are focusing on spinning. This is keeping a constant pace in regards to your pedal stroke and concentrating on pulling up on your pedals with the same force as when pushing down. Rode riding will allow you to focus on your heart rate as well. Many riders train and race with a heart rate monitor. Training with this technology, you will be able to increase endurance much faster than in the past. Racing with this technology you will be able to maintain a heart rate zone that your body can endure all the way to the finish line.

Riding the right bike may seem a bit silly to discuss, but is an important factor in an endurance mountain biking race. The racer, you, needs to be familiar with the race course. Bike weight can play a big role in the energy need to win the race. If the race course is mainly logging roads, double track and the like then a hard tail or even a single speed bike will perform great cutting down on unnecessary. If the race course has several rock gardens and technical sections than some riders will choose a dual suspension cross country bike.

Having and, more importantly, organizing the right gear for the race may be the deciding factor in a close race. If you know that your laps are taking one or two hours a piece then you can separate your gear into bags and label them according to time of day or lap number. This means fresh clothes (long sleeve for early and late day laps and cooler clothes for mid-day laps,) Put your bike light in the gear bag for nighttime laps along with clear lenses and maybe some chamois grease or Bengay. These bags are also where you can put lap specific foods.

I think mental preparation is where many athletes fail in any given sport. Be prepared to pep yourself up throughout the day. This is going to be a long day. There will be times when you feel down or even think about quitting. This is a good time to remember that mountain biking is fun. You are here because you like it. Put some pink streamers on your handlebars. Say, thank you, to someone cheering you on. I promise you will get more energy back than you spent saying it. If something bad does arise (i.e. equipment malfunction, big wreck) just relax. You will be much better able to solve it with a clear head. Remember: you will be here all day.

Lastly, the food you take in before, during, and after your race will dramatically affect your performance. Athletes should always maintain a balanced diet. Take in consideration the weather when planning your race diet. If it will be extremely hot on race day think about extra salt and potassium. I will sometimes add salt to my sports drink and force myself to eat an extra banana. DO NOT try anything for the first time the day of a race. You will be stressing your body out enough just racing. You do not want to start a lap take a suck of drink and find out that your stomach can’t handle an extra teaspoon of salt in a quart of sports drink.

There is much more to an endurance mountain bike race than hoping on a bike and pedaling fast. You have to pedal fast for a long time. The best way to be the best you can be on race day is to be prepared. Prepared with the right training, the right bike the right gear, the right food, and the right frame of mind. For the all the gear, click here. The rest is totally up to you. Good luck.
