Down Hill Mountain Biking

Extreme sports are getting more and more popular these days. Mountain biking attracts daredevils from all over the world who like to have an “adventure sport experience”.

The term mountain biking includes many different styles. The range is from gentle types such as cross country where you ride up and down the hills, and cyclo cross, which is a combination between mountain biking and road biking, to more ‘extreme’ styles. Downhill biking is one of the more extreme types and it is also one of the most popular forms of mountain biking.

As the name implies, in downhill mountain biking you only ride down the hills. The bike and the biker get transported up to the top by a lift and then begin the thrilling ride down. What you’re aiming for is to get to the bottom of the hill as fast as possible, managing to pass all the obstacles. The situations that occur often get pretty extreme. This includes jumps that can be up to twelve meters long, dropping three meters and other kinds of rough conditions that you can find on a mountain slope.

The people that are into downhill mountain biking are those that are looking for a good challenge, that long for the adrenaline pumping experience and don’t mind a few bruises. It’s for those that like to be on the risky, thrilling side of life.

The downhill bike is heavier than other mountain bikes to be able to fit the conditions. It weighs somewhere between forty and fifty pounds so forget about pedaling uphill once you’re out there. Once you’ve begun your race, there’s only one way to go and that’s down. The bike has to be able to put up with extreme conditions so it is equipped with front and rear suspension and heavy tubing. For the biker, it’s necessary to use full saftety gear with a proper helmet, goggles, a body suit plus knee and hand pads. You can expect to have some close contact with the dirt even if you are a professional downhill biker.

There are many ways to improve you skills, the most important one is of course to practice, and then to practice a bit more and a bit more. There are loads of books, DVDs and internet sites where people can watch stunts being performed by professionals sharing their tricks and ideas. This is also a great way to learn, and something you can bring with you once your actually out on the hillside. The only way to fully master it though, is to learn by the experience.

Even though downhill mountain biking is somewhat a risky sport, it’s well worth to go for it, being able to give you an experience out of the ordinary, both fun and exciting.

HP LaserJet Pro P1566 ? Stripped Down, Low Cost Laser Printer

Thanks to the power of HP’s FastRes technology, a high resolution, true 1200 x 1200 dot per inch quality is achievable at full print speed with the HP LaserJet Pro P1566, though HP does include a disclaimer in their product specifications that states that the exact print speed will vary depending on system configuration, software application, driver, and document complexity.

With a maximum print speed of up to 22 pages per minute, the HP LaserJet Pro P1566 is a performer for speed and, with HP FastRes, is especially appealing for those with demand sets that involve not only rapid print times, but high quality as well. Also impressive is the device’s incredibly fast 7 second warm up time, which is easily one of the fastest warm up times on the market from auto off mode.

The HP LaserJet Pro P1566′s maximum monthly duty cycle is quite limited considering its speed of print, with only 8,000 pages allowed. A much lower 250 to 2,000 pages per month is all HP recommends using for optimal performance, but they do back the product with a comprehensive, one year limited warranty that includes web and phone based technical support.

Standard memory is limited, at only 8 MBs, but what is much more disappointing is the unit’s lack of a 100 pin DIMM slot for memory expansion, capping the device at its stock RAM, and strictly threatening the unit’s ability to operate at top speed when dealing with comlex print projects. The HP LaserJet Pro P1566′s processor is moderate, clocking in at a solid 266 MHz.

The unit’s input tray of a 250 sheet capacity is also sufficient but, disappointingly, non expansive though, considering the unit’s limited output range, high volumes of paper are not recommended anyway. Assisting slightly in the HP LaserJet Pro P1566′s overall paper handling abilities is the unit’s 10 sheet priority feed slot which can be used for special media types such as envelopes, transparencies, and card stock. Special media sizes can also be programmed for compatibility starting as small as postcards and ending as large as standard legal sized paper.

While the HP LaserJet Pro P1566′s standard connectivity consists only of a single high speed USB 2.0 port, an HP Jetdirect ew 2500 802.11b/g wireless print server is a possible upgrade for, not only networking, but wireless connectivity as well, making it especially easy to operate the printer via mobile devices such as laptop computers.

Though the unit is Energy Star qualified, its active power consumption runs actually quite high at 420 watts, but a power save mode of 0.9 watts and a standby consumption of only 1.2 watts keeps overall energy usage and costs at a minimum.

Not only should the HP LaserJet Pro P1566 be considered a bare bones unit, its complete lack of expandability ensures that it is designed to stay that way. It’s obvious that HP intended the device as a stripped down, low cost personal printer and, with its light weight and small footprint, it succeeds as being just that.
